Public Health is a vastly growing field. The Mercer MPH program offers students a rewarding opportunity to help reduce health disparities and to improve the quality of life for families and communities. Mercer offers a generalist MPH degree teaching skill sets that open doors to various opportunities in the field. A host of specialists including educators, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, journalists, researchers, administrators, environmentalists, demographers, social workers, laboratory scientists, and attorneys work to protect the public from health threats while promoting wellness and health prevention.

Since 1998, the Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at Mercer University has been passionately committed to the educational development of public health professionals. Mercer University is a recognized leader in public health education in the state of Georgia. Students are challenged to confront complex health issues, such as improving access to health care, controlling infectious disease, and reducing environmental hazards, violence, substance abuse, and injury.

Mercer University's School of Medicine has a global presence and a prestigious academic reputation. The Mercer MPH Program compliments these efforts, offering more diverse and dynamic opportunities for advancement in the healthcare industry.

The MPH program will prepare competent health professionals to advance Public Health practice in communities, primarily rural and underserved populations through instruction, research, and service to promote social justice and health equity.

RESEARCH

Research Definition: Systematic investigation aimed at uncovering new information advancing Public Health knowledge.

Research Agenda: Faculty will engage in lines of research that will contribute to a Public Health knowledge base that promotes social justice and health equity.

SERVICE

Service Definition: Community-based activities that contribute to the advancement of Public Health practice primarily in rural and underserved populations.

Service Agenda: MPH faculty will engage in community-based activities, which will contribute to the advancement of Public Health practice primarily in rural and underserved populations.
