  1. Official transcripts, sent directly from the college or university, for all college-level work completed to earn a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

  2. Official transcripts, sent directly from the college or university, for any work completed beyond the undergraduate degree, i.e. masters and/or doctoral work.

  3. An interview with the faculty of the MFT program prior to acceptance and enrolling into any of the MFT courses.

  4. Three letters of reference, two of the three must be from either current or previous college professors and/or employers, the third may be either a college professor, employer or friend. A completed Reference Form is required with all reference letters.

  5. MFT and Post-Masters Certificate in MFT applicants must submit a copy of a three-page (750 words) typewritten essay on the subject of your educational, career, and life goals.

  6. All MFT applicants must have taken the Graduate Records Examination Test (GRE) within the last 5 years.

G.P.A. Requirement:
An overall undergraduate grade point average of 2.50 or better based on a 4.0 system is required.

Graduate Transfer Students:
Because of the specialized nature of the MFT graduate program offered through MUSM, the amount of graduate course credit awarded by transfer will be evaluated by the Program Director on a case by case basis. The maximum number of transfer credits will be limited to six semester hours and restricted to courses in which a grade of "B" or better was achieved. Courses used to complete requirements for another masters or doctoral degree cannot be used to satisfy requirements for the Mercer University School of Medicine MFT Degree. Transfer work will be calculated as part of the six-year limitation for the completion of the graduate degree.
