Clerkship Program

The psychiatry clerkship is a six-week required rotation occurring in the third year of medical school.  Students rotate at The Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) on the Inpatient Psychiatry Service (IPS) and on the Psychiatric Consultation Service (PCS).  Some afternoons will be spent in different locations including:  Central State Hospital, The Georgia Academy for the Blind, Macon Transitional Center, and Mercer Marriage and Family Therapy Clinic.  Students will see patients of different ages, from a variety of backgrounds, and who suffer from a wide range of medical and psychiatric diagnoses.  A series of lectures and seminars, case conferences, grand rounds and recommended readings complete the educational experience.
