Clerkship Sites
The Family Medicine Clerkship is a required eight-week experience in the third year
curriculum. Family Medicine, by virtue of its total patient focus, has also developed several other outstanding Family Medicine sites throughout the state of Georgia. Each site is associated with a residency-training program. Medical students are allowed the opportunity to follow a patient in both inpatient and outpatient settings in close association with that patient’s primary care physician. Students are given the opportunity to meet, work and learn with Family Medicine residents, as well as experienced community Family Physicians. Each site is unique in the components included, which range from pediatrics, inpatients, procedures, geriatrics, urban, rural, or other exciting medical areas. Students are, therefore, encouraged to select a site that will be most compatible with the type of practice they contemplate entering.
I sincerely hope your time with our department will be enjoyable and beneficial. I can assure you that regardless of which site you chose, it will prove to be an experience that will introduce you to the almost limitless potential of Family Medicine. You will soon find that in Family Medicine the only limits are the ones you yourself impose, for in Family Medicine we are not limited, we care for the Whole Patient.
Please explore the possibilities for a unique experience in learning! Listed below are links about your site choices and the accommodations available to you.
