CLERKSHIP
ATLANTA MEDICAL CENTER
FAMILY PRACTICE RESIDENCY PROGRAM
We are excited that you have selected to have your Clerkship experiences with us. Previous students
have rated this rotation as the best of their entire medical school career. We hope to have you feel the same.
As Georgia’s premier Family Medicine Residency we are uniquely equipped to give you a comprehensive introduction to the specialty of Family Medicine.
Founded in 1994 Atlanta Medical Center‘s Family Medicine Residency Program has been graduating 6 excellent family doctors per year. Our graduates function as full breadth family physicians. The Residency is comprised of 18 residents divided among the three years. We enjoy a diversity of people from all over the country. Experienced upper level residents will be involved in your experience as well.
Our Faculty consists of 8 experienced family physician educators. They will all be available to you to insure that you have the best experience possible. You will be assigned one faculty member as your mentor for family medicine. It is that faculty member’s responsibility to facilitate a great learning experience.
The clinic is housed in a modern facility in Morrow, Georgia, a southern suburb of downtown Atlanta. It is a state of the art teaching facility with 23 examination rooms.
Atlanta Medical Center is a 450 Bed tertiary care facility with a strong Family Medicine presence. The Medical center is situated 18 miles north of the clinic in Downtown Atlanta. Students are required to attend morning report with the Inpatient Family Medicine team on Tuesdays. Morning report allows students to be an integral part of the functioning family medicine team and is looked upon by most students as a valuable and enjoyable experience. Tuesday morning report is followed by a morning of Family Medicine Grand Rounds.
We do not offer any housing, and students usually stay with friends or family in Atlanta during the rotation. Meals are provided only during lunch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Computers with internet access are available at the clinic and the hospital.
If you start on a Monday you should report to the Family Medicine Center Clinic in Morrow at 9:00 am. (or immediately after orientation at your school.) If you are starting a different day please call ahead to see where you should report.
If you would like additional information about the rotation, please contact either of us at any time.
