Academic Advisement

Student Advisement
Each student is assigned an advisor. Initially the advisor is important in helping the studentadvisment.jpg adjust to the preclinical curriculum and providing counsel and help in whatever areas are appropriate. The advisor's role during years three and four is directed more toward career counseling and the selection of appropriate electives. In either case the advisor can become the student's individual support and confidant.

Counseling
The Office of Admissions and Student Affairs, in conjunction with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, the Department of Family Medicine, and other University and community professionals has developed a counseling referral service which provides assistance to students experiencing personal difficulties which interfere with academic progress.

The Office of Admissions and Student Affairs also serves as a referral agency for a wide variety of student questions and concerns by providing information and directing students to appropriate individuals and/or agencies, both on campus and within the community.
