Chemical Safety

 General Requirements

  1. Each School of Medicine laboratory is required to have a complete and up to date inventory of their lab's chemicals.  (An updated copy should be provided to the following:

  2. Each laboratory is also required to have a complete and up to date notebook of Material Safety Data Sheets to accompany their chemical inventory.

     
  3. Each individual who performs work in a lab with hazardous chemicals is required to receive training on the potential hazards, safe use, and response procedures in case of an accident.

     
  4. At the School of Medicine, this training is administered in a collaborative approach as follows:
    • Initial Comphrehensive Training: 
      • Vladimir Mayorov and Alan Baca (MUSM: Contact Vladimir to set up an appointment)
    • Ongoing Training and Lab-Specific Information:
      • Laboratory P.I.
