The Mercer University School of Medicine, with support from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Nutrition Academic Award Program (NAA), is committed to reducing the incidence of cardiovascular disease in medically underserved populations of Georgia. We are developing a unique medical-nutrition education program that includes experiences in basic science, clinical skills, community science, and clinical clerkships/residencies. You will use our new website to learn alongside allied healthcare professionals in nutrition, nursing, exercise, and health education and will have direct access to newly developed computer education modules. As this Website develops, you can expect to see new and innovative ways of acquiring information on nutrition and preventive medicine. When preparing a clinical presentation for education seminars or grand rounds, you will receive timely advice from the experts on the Web-Based Mentoring Network. This is preventive medicine at the cutting edge, so... stay tuned and watch for further updates! "The overall goal of this project is to develop, implement, and evaluate a medical education curriculum in nutrition and other aspects of chronic disease (CVD) prevention and patient management with emphasis on the training of primary care physicians for medically underserved populations." |
