HOME (Full Text Books)

 

            Contains 53 titles: a Clinical Library of approximately 13 textbooks with content updates exclusive to AccessMedicine, and an Educational Library of approximately 40 LANGE series textbooks in basic sciences and clinical medicine.

 

UPDATES

 

            View recent additions and updates of textbooks in the Clinical Library. Search by title or by date. The most recent updates are also listed on the homepage.

 

DRUGS

 

            All monographs are from Gold Standard Media. Drug monographs include complete chemical structure and dosing information, adverse reactions, indications, contraindications, as well as patient education in English and Spanish and full-color photos of all formulations. You can search using the global search box or browse the A-Z list in the Drug section. You can search by brand or generic names.

 

IMAGES

 

            Users can build a personal library of saved images, but must first create a free personal account. In order to add an image to your personal account look for the links that says “Add to ‘My Saved Images’” Not every image you see in AccessMedicine is available to upload to your account. Users can also browse the A-Z list in the Images section or by using the global search box and limiting to Images, Video, & Audio.

 

DDx

            McGraw-Hill’s Diagnosaurus 2.0 allows users to explore up to 1000+ differential diagnoses by disease, symptom, or organ system. Results are linked to AccessMedicine content if available. A free Diagnosaurus PDA Tool is available for download to a handheld as well.

 

GUIDELINES

 

            Derived from 2008 Current Practice Guidelines in Primary Care, by Gonzales & Kutner. Users can access practice guidelines for over 60 common complaints or conditions to assist in disease screening, prevention, and management. The original source(s) for each guideline are hyperlinked when possible and, if not, citation information is given.

 

QUICK ACCESS

 

            This resource features the content of 2007 Current Consult: Medicine, by Papadakis & McPhee. This tool is meant to provide rapid diagnosis and treatment information of over 800 disorders. Accessible from the homepage as well.

X TESTS


Diagnostic Tests, features the content of Pocket Guide to Diagnostic Tests, 4th ed., by Nicoll, McPhee, & Pignone. Go here to find more than 300 common lab tests, with guidelines on interpreting results, details on associated risks, costs, and much more. Categories include: therapeutic drug monitoring, microbiology, diagnostic imaging, diagnostic algorithms, and diagnostic tests in differential diagnosis. It also provides a hyperlinked index.


PATIENT ED

 

            Customizable for users who have set up personal accounts, patient handouts cover nearly 100 topics summarizing basic but critical information regarding disorders and treatment details for patients. The patient education information is provided courtesy of McGraw-Hill's Postgraduate Medicine: The Practical Peer-Reviewed Journal for Primary Care Physicians.

 

NEWS

 

            Health news stories are supplied by the Health Behavior News Service of The Center for the Advancement of Health. It is divided into “What Your Patients are Reading” and “Systematic Reviews in the News.” The latter offers an archive going back to 2004. Updated daily.

            Email sections and bookmarks to a colleague. Links to content include the full-text and will stay active for 3 days.

 

USLMEasy

 

            Prepare for the USMLE™ Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 exams with help from McGraw-Hill’s online testing service, USMLEasy.com. MUSM affiliates gain free access to 1500 questions for Step 1, 1500 questions for Step 2, and 300 questions for Step 3 in USMLEasy Lite. After taking an exam that you customize to your needs, be sure to note the “Customized Reading List” for focused advice on how to sharpen your strengths and weaknesses.

 

PDA Downloads

 

            You have to download each section/chapter individually. Downloading an entire book or chapter is not an option currently.
