Following is the procedure to set up Outlook Express as your email client for accessing mail at med.mercer.edu.  Please note: You do not have to use Outlook Express as your email client; you may use any email client you wish to use. If you have questions about setting up clients other than Outlook Express, call 301-2515 to speak to Lee McCarley in the Medical Library, or email support@med.mercer.edu.

Step 1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.

Step 2. In the Internet Accounts dialog box, click the Add button. Select Mail to open the Internet Connection Wizard.

Step 3. Fill in your name in the Your Name screen (your name as you want it to appear—e.g.- "John A. Smith" —not your user name).

Click Next>

Step 4. Fill in your email address. Your email address is in the form _@med.mercer.edu (e.g. - smith_ja@med.mercer.edu ). Only first initial is used if you do not have a middle name.

Step 5. At the Email Server Names screen, select either POP3 or IMAP (do not select HTTP). In the Incoming mail server box, type med.mercer.edu In the Outgoing mail server box, type admin.mercer.edu

Click Next>

Step 6. Fill in the Account Name box with your user name (the part of your email address to the left of the "@" symbol). Fill in the Password box with your password.

Click Next>

Step 7. Click the Finish button. You're done!
