Clinical Teaching Resources
Mercer University School of Medicine has purchased a subscription for an online, web-based resource entitled "The Teaching Physician". The resource offers modules related to teaching, which include evaluating learners, giving feedback, teaching strategies and integrating learners into the practice setting. In addition to the modules, which offer CME credit (up to 14.5 hours), links to other resources such as videos and articles are provided. "The Teaching Physician" was developed by STFM (Society for Teachers of Family Medicine); however, the topics covered are generic and would be of interest to both hospital and community-based faculty. There is no charge to individuals, offices or departments.
You may review the resource at www.teachingphysician.org. If you are interested in obtaining this resource for yourself, your faculty and/or residents, please send the following information to Bobbie Shelton (Shelton_bj@mercer.edu) or Marie Dent, PhD, Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs; (firstname.lastname@example.org).The information will be submitted to The Teaching Physician, who will register the physician and send a user name and password directly to the enrollee.
The Georgia AHEC Network offers a set of six modules related to precepting, particularly in an office based setting. The topics include teaching and evaluating, problem learners, cultural competence, and integrating learners into the practice.
