Mercer University School of Medicine is approved as a Pediatric Portfolio Sponsor by the American Board of Pediatrics

As a Pediatric Portfolio Sponsor, MUSM evaluates local and institutional QI projects against the ABP’s QI activity standards and then approves projects for MOC credit. All physicians actively participating in the projects can earn this credit.

In early 2023, MUSM, along with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center, announced a joint initiative to enhance pediatric health care in rural Georgia. This initiative, the Kids Alliance for Better Care (KidsABC), includes a series of programs focused on increasing access to pediatric care close to home. Becoming a Portfolio sponsorship site enables the School of Medicine to assist pediatricians, particularly those in rural areas, in submitting QI projects in exchange for credits for MOC, expanding on the mission to support pediatricians through the projects of the Alliance.

“The Portfolio Sponsorship designation for the School of Medicine and its partnership with the American Board of Pediatrics underscores our commitment to support Georgia’s rural pediatricians," said School of Medicine Dean Jean Sumner, MD, FACP. "QI projects will improve the quality of care and timeliness of care for children in rural areas.”
