Research

Mercer University School of Medicine faculty engage in impactful research designed to support the School’s mission. Research projects span the spectrum from bench science to population health, providing a broad base of expertise applicable to a variety of research approaches and health outcomes.

Faculty research is supported by a variety of agencies, including the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute in Minority Health and Health Disparities, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, the federal Office of Rural Health Policy and the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau. The School also houses the Center for Rural Health and Health Disparities, an NIH-designated Center of Excellence focused on eliminating rural health disparities, and the Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center, a state-funded entity charged with improving access to and quality of health care in rural Georgia.
