LCME News What is the LCME Accreditation Team Looking For? As part of the ongoing accreditation process, MUSM conducted a complete institutional self studyleading up to a LCME survey team visit in February 2005. In June 2005, the LCME voted to continue accreditation of the educational program leading to the M.D. degree at MUSM, and to conduct a limited site survey in October 2006 to assess progress in addressing concerns with 9 of the accreditation standards and 6 areas noted to be in transition at the time of the February visit. Since June 2006, MUSM has been working to thoroughly understand the LCME’s concerns and to enact substantive, enduring solutions to these concerns. The MUSM report to the LCME, which addresses their questions and provides a progress report on the concerns with standards and areas oftransition, can be viewed in the MUSM Library. The limited survey team will be on site October 8 -11, 2006 to substantiate the contents of the MUSM report though inspections and interviews. The survey team will create a report of their findings for the LCME’s consideration.
