Mason Center Call for Research Proposals
The Carlos and Marguerite Mason Center for Organ Donation and Transplant Education and Policy is requesting proposals for its research grant program. The mission of the Mason Center at Mercer University School of Medicine is to increase knowledge and awareness of organ and tissue donation and transplantation in rural populations, healthcare professionals, and medical students.
This call supports the generation of evidence from research that responds to one of the Mason Center’s high-priority areas of research focus:
- Educational strategies for expanding knowledge of organ donation and transplant processes and policies in rural populations, healthcare professionals, policy makers, or donors/recipients
- Critical analyses of policy and social justice issues relevant to organ donation and transplantation in Georgia (i.e. equity in distribution)
- Ethical analyses of the use of social media campaigns in organ donation or transplantation
- Ethical analyses of research policies or practices relevant to organ donation or transplantation
- Ethical analyses of donor recruitment and eligibility policies and practices
Projects will be funded in amounts ranging from $1,000-5,000 with most projects funded at $2,000. Study duration should be around 12-18 months, though initial phase projects may be considered with additional funding contingent on achieving clear milestones.
The Mason Center Director and Board will review applications on a rolling basis and may request additional information from applicants. Finalists will be invited to interview.
