Research Interest
Dr. Jacob’s research is dedicated to unraveling the complexities of psychological distress in an attempt to promote emotional well-being. Her research aims to understand and diminish psychological distress symptoms for individuals with Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS), shedding light on how to mitigate the symptoms through therapeutic interventions using Bowenian family systems theory and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Her research incorporates the use of group therapy as a supportive environment for individuals with SPS, offering shared understanding and validation. In recognizing the enduring influence of family dynamics on our psychological landscape coupled with the therapeutic use of mindfulness techniques and behavioral change strategies, Dr. Jacob’s research is focused on supporting the SPS demographic through self-awareness, social support, and stress-reducing techniques.
