Research Interest
Dr. Rotschafer’s lab investigates how auditory processing is altered in fragile X syndrome. This work uses fragile X model mice to test synaptic protein expression at developmentally significant time points and tests auditory function using electrophysiological methods and behavioral assays. This research focuses on finding new biomarkers for assessing the efficacy of new therapies and treatments and studies how the auditory system as a whole is effected by FMRP loss within specific auditory nuclei.
